Hoban Recruitment is partnering with a leading financial services organisation to recruit an experienced Senior Corporate Counsel.
About the Role
This is a senior legal role offering a high-profile, strategic opportunity to provide expert counsel across Australia, New Zealand, and Asia Pacific. Reporting to the Assistant General Counsel, you will deliver legal support across corporate governance, compliance, cross-border transactions, litigation management, and new business initiatives.
You will work closely with senior management, internal stakeholders, regional legal teams, and external counsel, providing clear, strategic advice to manage risk and support business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Provide legal advice on corporate governance, compliance, transactions, and litigation for financial services operations
Draft, review, and negotiate complex legal agreements and contracts
Advise senior management with clear, practical recommendations
Assess legal risk and contribute to resolution of issues across multiple jurisdictions
Collaborate with regional and APAC legal teams and external counsel to deliver high-quality legal support
Lead legal initiatives, influencing strategy and supporting business growth
About You
Qualified lawyer with 8-10 years' experience, including 3-5 years in financial services or captive finance preferred
Deep expertise in transactions, compliance, regulatory matters, and litigation
Strong business acumen, strategic vision, and risk management capabilities
Proven ability to lead, influence, and collaborate across teams and functions
Excellent legal writing, communication, and decision-making skills
Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment
