We are seeking a reliable and detail-focused Microbiologist to join a beverage manufacturing environment based in the Swanbank / Ipswich area. This role will support the site's quality and food safety standards through microbiological testing, sampling, analysis and accurate reporting.
This is a great opportunity for someone with strong laboratory discipline, an eye for detail and a genuine interest in quality assurance within food, beverage or FMCG manufacturing.
About the Role
Reporting into the quality or laboratory team, you will be responsible for conducting microbiological analysis across beverage products, water systems and sampling programs. You will play an important role in ensuring products and processes meet required quality, safety and compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct microbiological testing and analysis on beverage samples.
- Perform water microbiological analysis in line with site requirements.
- Complete routine product, water and environmental sampling.
- Prepare, handle and process samples accurately and safely.
- Record, interpret and report microbiological results in a timely manner.
- Maintain high standards of hygiene, laboratory cleanliness and documentation.
- Support investigation of out-of-specification results or quality concerns.
- Follow laboratory procedures, quality systems and food safety requirements.
- Work closely with production and quality teams to support safe and compliant operations.
- Assist with continuous improvement activities across microbiological testing and sampling processes.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will bring a strong understanding of microbiological testing principles and a careful, methodical approach to laboratory work.
You will ideally have:
- Qualifications in Microbiology, Food Science, Laboratory Techniques or a related discipline.
- Previous experience in microbiological analysis, ideally within food, beverage, FMCG, water testing or a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with beverage, water or environmental sampling will be highly regarded.
- Strong attention to detail and accurate documentation skills.
- Understanding of hygiene, food safety and quality requirements.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Good communication skills and a proactive attitude.
- Availability to work day shift, 8:00am to 4:00pm.
- Flexibility to work across a 5-day roster, including Saturdays and Sundays where required.
