HOBAN Recruitment is seeking enthusiastic and reliable Pavilion Attendants to support the Melbourne Royal Show 2026 across a variety of Animal Competition Pavilions, including Livestock, Horses, Dogs and Poultry.

About the Role
As a Pavilion Attendant, you'll play an important role in ensuring the smooth operation of the animal competition precincts. You'll assist exhibitors, support event operations, maintain clean and safe public areas, and help create an outstanding experience for visitors and competitors.
This is a physical, outdoor and indoor operational role working in close proximity to livestock and other animals.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with pavilion and precinct setup before the event.
- Move fencing, rubber matting, equipment, tables, chairs and event supplies.
- Support exhibitor arrivals and departures, including directing vehicles and animal movements.
- Maintain clean, safe and organised pavilion areas.
- Remove animal waste using shovels and wheelbarrows
- Sweep straw, sand and rubbish from public and operational areas
- Hose down wash bays and outdoor concrete areas.
- Assist with the care of poultry by ensuring cages are supplied with fresh water and feed throughout the event, maintaining clean and well-stocked enclosures.
- Monitor walkways to ensure safe public access.
- Assist exhibitors by directing animals through designated access routes
- Provide general customer service and respond to visitor enquiries
- Report maintenance or safety concerns to supervisors
- Assist with pavilion opening and closing procedures
- Complete other operational duties as required
About You
We're looking for people who are:
- Physically fit and capable of manual handling and labour-intensive work
- Comfortable working around livestock, horses, dogs, poultry and other animals
- Comfortable working in environments with animal smells, noise and waste
- Reliable, punctual and safety focused
- Friendly with strong customer service and communication skills
- Able to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team
- Adaptable in a busy event environment.
- Detail-oriented with a proactive attitude.
- Should be 18+
- Should have a Working with Children Check (Employee).

Role Details
- Event: Melbourne Royal Show 2026
- Training & Bump-In: 7 September - 23 September 2026 (attendance required)
- Event Dates: 24 September - 4 October 2026
- Location: Melbourne Showgrounds, Ascot Vale VIC
- Shifts: Rotating roster between 6:00am and 10:00pm, including weekends and public holidays
- Pay Rate: $32-$33 per hour (Monday to Saturday), plus applicable Sunday and Public Holiday penalty rates.
