Are you an experienced payroll professional looking to contribute to a high-performing team within a dynamic local government environment? Inner West Council is seeking a Payroll Analyst to deliver accurate, timely, and compliant payroll services for our workforce while driving continuous improvement across our payroll function.
About the Role
As a Payroll Analyst, you will ensure the seamless delivery of end-to-end payroll services in line with legislation, the Local Government (State) Award, enterprise agreements, and Council policies.
You'll provide technical expertise across payroll processing, data integrity, compliance, and system optimisation while delivering excellent customer service to staff and managers.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver accurate and timely end-to-end payroll processing.
- Perform payroll reconciliations and audits to maintain data integrity across TechOne and related systems.
- Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies promptly.
- Maintain employee records, leave balances, and superannuation information.
- Ensure compliance with PAYG, superannuation, Long Service Leave, and other legislative requirements.
- Provide professional payroll support to staff and managers.
- Assist with system upgrades, testing, and award updates alongside HR and IT teams.
- Support continuous improvement to enhance payroll accuracy, efficiency, and automation.

You bring strong payroll technical skills, exceptional attention to detail, and a commitment to providing high-quality service. You thrive in a collaborative environment and feel confident interpreting awards, legislation, and payroll data.
Skills & Experience
- MUST have proven experience using Technology One (TechOne) for payroll processing.
- Demonstrated experience in full end-to-end payroll processing (local government experience desirable).
- Solid knowledge of the Local Government (State) Award and related employment conditions.
- Strong understanding of payroll legislation, taxation, and superannuation.
- High attention to detail, accuracy, and analytical ability.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Proficiency in Excel and data reconciliation.
