HOBAN Opens New Distribution Development Centre in Melbourne

We are proud to announce the grand opening of HOBAN Recruitment’s new Distribution Development Centre (DDC) in Dandenong, Melbourne! This facility marks a significant step toward addressing the skills shortage across key industries and supporting local businesses with job-ready talent.

Addressing Melbourne’s Skills Shortage

Melbourne’s growing logistics, warehousing, manufacturing, and pharmaceutical industries continue to experience increased demand for skilled workers. To help bridge this gap, HOBAN Recruitment has expanded its successful DDC model from Western Sydney to Melbourne’s busy south-eastern hub.

Tailored Training and Assessment

Our Dandenong facility focuses on providing hands-on, practical training tailored to meet specific industry needs. We work closely with businesses to understand their unique workforce requirements and design training programs tailored to their operational needs. By equipping candidates with real-world experience in a simulated work environment, we ensure they are job-ready from day one.

To ensure workforce readiness, we thoroughly assess candidates’ skills and capabilities before placing them with our clients. This comprehensive approach ensures businesses have access to workers who are trained and ready to make an immediate impact, improving productivity and addressing critical labour shortages across the region.

State-of-the-Art Training Facilities

The DDC offers a simulated work environment, enabling candidates to gain real-world experience and be job-ready from day one.

The centre’s training features include:

  • Forklift training, including double-deep racking operations
  • RF scanning, voice picking, and manual handling
  • Dedicated cleanroom environment for pharmaceutical and specialised industries
  • Assembly and process work training
  • Classroom-style group training for customer service and call centre roles
  • And much more!

Building on Our Successes

Following the achievements of our Westen Sydney DDC, which has supported hundreds of workers since its 2021 opening. The Melbourne centre brings the same commitment to fostering a skilled workforce. Our approach focuses on hiring for attitude and training for the skills industries demand, creating opportunities for job seekers while providing businesses with qualified staff who can hit the ground running.

A Message from Mayor Jim Memeti

As Mayor Jim Memeti highlighted at the opening event, “The HOBAN Distribution Development Centre in Dandenong is the first of its kind in the state. It will provide much-needed hands-on training to help local job seekers develop important skills to meet growing industry demand.”

The Mayor also noted that Greater Dandenong employs 114,000 people and generates over $50 billion in output, making it a prime location for a facility of this nature. With the region having one of the largest age groups of 15 to 24-year-olds in the country and youth unemployment in double figures, the DDC is a crucial investment in supporting workforce development and economic growth.

“Equipping people with new skills and helping them find work is about more than employment—it fosters connection, independence, and confidence while building a skilled and passionate workforce for Greater Dandenong,” the Mayor added.
