HOBAN’s New NSW Distribution Development Centre

HOBAN Recruitment Expands Distribution Development Centre in Western Sydney

We are excited to announce the grand opening of HOBAN Recruitment’s expanded Distribution Development Centre (DDC) in Seven Hills, Western Sydney. Officially opened on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, by Councillor Brad Bunting, Mayor of Blacktown, this state-of-the-art facility represents a major step forward in addressing skill shortages and supporting local businesses in the logistics, healthcare, and manufacturing sectors.

Addressing Skill Shortages in Western Sydney

The Western Sydney region has faced significant labour shortages in industries like logistics and warehousing. In response to these growing needs, HOBAN Recruitment has invested in expanding our DDC to provide job seekers with the hands-on, practical training required to meet these demands. The facility will play a crucial role in ensuring businesses have immediate access to skilled, job-ready workers who can hit the ground running.

Some of the features include:

  • Forklift training, including LO and LF operation and double-deep racking
  • RF scanning, voice picking, and manual handling training
  • Simulated cleanroom environments for pharmaceutical and healthcare training
  • Assembly and power tool process work
  • Pickers, packers, and despatchers training

A Boost to Local Economic Growth

Beyond addressing workforce shortages, the expanded DDC will help fuel local economic growth. By providing employers with skilled workers, businesses can maintain productivity and meet operational needs more efficiently. This, in turn, benefits the entire Western Sydney community, creating more job opportunities and supporting economic resilience.

The centre’s expanded offerings now also include pharmaceutical, healthcare, and manufacturing training, providing candidates with specialised skills to meet the needs of these essential industries. Candidates receive realistic, immersive training, equipping them with the practical experience they need to succeed.

A Word from Councillor Brad Bunting, Mayor of Blacktown

Speaking at the event, Councillor Brad Bunting expressed his strong connection to the project and its importance to the community. “Blacktown City is home to over 435,000 residents, and with our population expected to exceed 600,000 in the coming years, the demand for job opportunities and skilled workers will only continue to grow. To put it in perspective, that’s the population of Tasmania in one city.”

The Mayor also shared a personal reflection on how impactful such a facility could have been for him. “My first job out of high school was in a warehouse, and I would have greatly benefited from the kind of targeted training that the DDC now provides. Growing up in Mt. Druitt, I’m passionate about the growth of our region and proud to see initiatives like this one from HOBAN supporting our local community.”

Supporting Local Businesses with Job-Ready Talent

At HOBAN, our mission has always been about more than just filling roles—we’re focused on creating opportunities and matching employers with candidates who are truly prepared for success. Since the launch of our original DDC in 2021, we’ve helped hundreds of individuals gain the skills they need to thrive in the workplace. This expansion only strengthens our ability to support employers with a highly skilled and ready-to-work talent pool.
