We are seeking an experienced Manager Finance to join their team and lead the financial management of the Council. Reporting to the Executive Team, you will oversee a passionate team and ensure the delivery of robust financial strategies, statutory compliance, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities summary:
- Provide sound financial advice to the Executive Team, Leadership Team, Council, and external stakeholders.
- Manage day-to-day finance operations, including accounting, accounts receivable/payable, payroll, and rates.
- Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with the Council Plan.
- Prepare and oversee the Council's annual budget, financial statements, and compliance reporting.
- Monitor financial performance through key performance indicators and provide monthly finance reports.
- Maintain Council's 10-year financial plan and lead financial forecasting.
- Ensure compliance with Australian Accounting Standards and the Local Government Act.
- Drive innovation in financial systems, processes, and reporting to ensure best practice principles.
- Provide training and guidance on financial policies and systems across the organisation.
About you:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Commerce, Accounting, or Business. Postgraduate certification (e.g., CA or CPA)
- Membership in a recognised Australian accounting body.
- Significant experience managing finance teams within Local Government or a medium-sized, multidisciplinary organisation > desirable
- Expertise in Australian Accounting Standards, financial statements preparation, and statutory compliance.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare and manage long-range financial plans, budgets, and forecasts.
- Strong management skills with the ability to lead, motivate, and develop a high-performing team.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to effectively engage with staff, Councillors, and the community.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and corporate financial systems, with the ability to develop high-quality reports.
