We are seeking an experienced Manager Finance to join their team and lead the financial management of the Council. Reporting to the Executive Team, you will oversee a passionate team and ensure the delivery of robust financial strategies, statutory compliance, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities summary:

• Provide sound financial advice to the Executive Team, Leadership Team, Council, and external stakeholders.
• Manage day-to-day finance operations, including accounting, accounts receivable/payable, payroll, and rates.
• Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with the Council Plan.
• Prepare and oversee the Council's annual budget, financial statements, and compliance reporting.
• Monitor financial performance through key performance indicators and provide monthly finance reports.
• Maintain Council's 10-year financial plan and lead financial forecasting.
• Ensure compliance with Australian Accounting Standards and the Local Government Act.
• Drive innovation in financial systems, processes, and reporting to ensure best practice principles.
• Provide training and guidance on financial policies and systems across the organisation.

About you:

• Relevant tertiary qualifications in Commerce, Accounting, or Business. Postgraduate certification (e.g., CA or CPA)
• Membership in a recognised Australian accounting body.
• Significant experience managing finance teams within Local Government or a medium-sized, multidisciplinary organisation > desirable
• Expertise in Australian Accounting Standards, financial statements preparation, and statutory compliance.
• Demonstrated ability to prepare and manage long-range financial plans, budgets, and forecasts.
• Strong management skills with the ability to lead, motivate, and develop a high-performing team.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to effectively engage with staff, Councillors, and the community.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel and corporate financial systems, with the ability to develop high-quality reports.
