About the role: Maintain, test, and repair Council's fleet, ensuring safety and roadworthiness.

- 3-month contract with potential to extend
- Full-time, 38 hours per week
Key responsibilities:
- Adhere to OHS procedures and wear PPE as required
- Detect and diagnose faults in fleet engines and parts
- Repair and replace worn and defective parts
- Perform scheduled services to maintain roadworthy condition
- Test and adjust mechanical parts for proper performance
- Diagnose and test parts using computers
- Ensure workshop activities comply with safety practices and legislation
- Coordinate ordering of parts and consumables
- Manage day-to-day workshop activities, including booking and scheduling
- Undertake audits of plant and equipment, log books, and service records
- Work with the Fleet Team to ensure maintenance schedules are completed on time
- Identify reliability issues and suggest corrective actions
- Complete job cards and log books, monitor costs, and assist with data processing
- Assist with workshop security and safety procedures
- Deliver and pick up vehicles from external service providers
- Ensure all relevant licenses are up to date
About you:
- Qualified Motor Mechanic / Plant Fitter with Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade
- Several years of experience in fleet maintenance and repairs, including heavy diesel plant
- Demonstrated welding and fabrication skills
- Current Victorian driver's licence (Heavy Rigid), forklift licence (LF), and other plant licences are advantageous
- National Police Check with no relevant criminal record
- Proficient in using computers and software relevant to fleet maintenance
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to identify and solve problems, and escalate when necessary
- Physically and mentally fit to undertake duties, with a pre-employment medical check required
