Are you passionate about biosecurity and large-scale environmental management? Hoban recruitment is seeking AO5 Project Officers to support the Fire Ant Suppression Taskforce (FAST) in a major aerial treatment initiative.
Role Details
- Role Type - Casual temporary labor hire assignment
- Location - Berrinba, South side of Brisbane, QLD
- Rate - AO5 equivalent, $66 + p/h + super
About the Role
As a Project Officer (Extension), you will play a critical role in engaging landholders and key stakeholders to implement effective fire ant management strategies. You will help ensure the success of a large-scale aerial treatment project covering 106,000 hectares of high-infestation areas.
Your key responsibilities will include but not limited to:
- Stakeholder Engagement - Work with large landholders, primary producers, government agencies, and high-risk industries to support aerial treatment efforts.
- Technical Advice - Guide landholders on fire ant risk mitigation, surveillance, treatment, and compliance with biosecurity regulations.
- Compliance & Reporting - Ensure landholders are meeting legislative requirements, including accurate reporting of fire ant presence and treatment activities.
- Project Coordination - Track project activities, deliverables, and risks while maintaining accurate records and assessments.
- Workshops & Education - Participate in industry workshops, providing expert advice on fire ant self-management plans.
- Collaboration - Work within a multi-disciplinary team to support operational delivery and eradication efforts.
- Other duties as required
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills to collaborate with landholders, government agencies, and industry representatives.
- Experience in environmental management, biosecurity, or large-scale operational projects (highly regarded).
- Project coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain accurate records.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills to provide technical advice and guidance.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Mandatory Requirements
- Current, unrestricted 'C' class driver's licence.
- Australian citizenship, permanent residency, or valid work visa.
