Are you ready to take on a critical role in protecting Queensland from invasive pests? The Queensland Government is seeking an experienced AO6 Senior Project Officer to lead a dynamic team within the Fire Ant Suppression Taskforce (FAST).
Role Details
- Role Type - Casual temporary labor hire assignment
- Location - Berrinba, South side of Brisbane, QLD
- Rate - AO6 equivalent, $76 + p/h + super
About the Role
As a Senior Project Officer, you will lead a small project team, coordinating large-scale aerial treatment operations across 106,000 hectares of high-infestation areas.
Your key responsibilities will include but not limited to:
- Project Leadership - Plan, deliver, and evaluate aerial treatment projects, ensuring successful execution.
- Team Management - Supervise and support a small team of Project Officers.
- Data & Reporting - Manage project tracking, deliverables, risks, and data collection using internal IT systems.
- Stakeholder Engagement - Work with large landholders to implement fire ant management strategies.
- Technical Expertise - Provide guidance on surveillance, treatment, and risk mitigation.
- Community Representation - Attend workshops, meetings, and field days to promote fire ant suppression efforts.
- Collaboration - Work with multi-disciplinary teams across FAST.
- Flexibility - Some weekend work may be required.
- Other duties as required
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Strong project management experience with a track record of delivering environmental or biosecurity initiatives.
- Leadership skills to effectively manage and support a small team.
- Technical knowledge of data collection, mapping, and field data integration.
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to liaise with landholders and industry representatives.
- Experience in biosecurity, environmental management, or large-scale operational projects (highly regarded).
Mandatory Requirements
- Current, unrestricted 'C' class driver's licence.
- Australian citizenship, permanent residency, or valid work visa.
