About the role:
As a Freedom Of Information Officer (Statutory Laws) you will join a dedicated team to lead and assist in the processing of Freedom of Information and Information Privacy requests..

Key responsibilities:
- Assist the Governance Coordinator in processing Freedom of Information and Information Privacy requests
- Coordinate major activities of the Governance Unit, including administering Councillor Briefing Sessions and Council meeting processes
- Ensure legislative compliance and good governance practices across the organisation
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including Council business units, customers, and government bodies
- Make decisions relating to the release of Council documents under relevant acts
- Develop and deliver training programs and information sessions to staff
About you:
- Degree or Diploma in Civic Administration or equivalent with relevant Governance experience OR lesser formal qualification with substantial Governance experience in Local Government or relevant public sector
- Demonstrated understanding of the Freedom of Information Act 1982, Privacy and Data Protection Act 2014, Local Government Act 1989, and Local Government Act 2020
- Ability to manage and process Freedom of Information and Information Privacy requests
- Proven experience in achieving good governance practices, ideally within Local or State Government
- Capacity to respect and manage confidential information within a political environment
- Previous experience conducting election activities in Council elections
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written, including preparation of reports, agendas, and minutes
- Proficiency in using computer software and systems, including Microsoft Office suite and electronic document management systems
- Satisfactory Working with Children's Check and Police Check
- Current valid Victorian Driver's Licence
