Electrical Fitter

Our client is seeking a skilled Electrical Fitter to join their team, responsible for the installation, maintenance, testing, and repair of electrical systems, equipment, and wiring.
This role requires reading blueprints, wiring diagrams, and schematics, troubleshooting electrical issues, and ensuring compliance with all safety regulations and standards. You will play a vital role in maintaining the safety, functionality, and efficiency of all electrical systems.
Taking charge of afternoon shift, 2pm - 10pm, you will be a key member of a thriving business.
Key Responsibilities:
Installation & Assembly:
- Report hazards, incidents, or equipment replacement needs promptly.
- Collaborate with engineers, supervisors, and team members on equipment modifications or upgrades.
- Assemble and install electrical equipment like switchboards, circuit breakers, motors, transformers, and control panels.
- Install and wire electrical systems, including industrial and commercial wiring, per specifications and codes.
- Set up cable trays, conduits, and wiring systems for new or modified installations.
Maintenance & Repair:
- Conduct routine maintenance on electrical systems and equipment to ensure proper functionality and prevent issues.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical faults using test equipment and tools.
- Repair or replace faulty wiring, equipment, and fixtures as needed.
Testing & Commissioning:
- Perform functional testing to ensure equipment meets safety and operational standards.
- Use diagnostic equipment (e.g., multimeters, oscilloscopes) to test systems and troubleshoot issues.
- Document test results and make necessary adjustments to optimise performance.
Compliance & Safety:
- Follow all safety protocols, electrical codes, and regulatory standards in all work activities.
- Complete job safety analyses (JSAs) and ensure adherence to company safety policies.
- Stay updated on electrical codes, industry standards, and best practices.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, including testing data, inspection reports, and service logs.
Qualifications:
- Education: Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician or equivalent; Electrical Fitter Trade Certificate is preferred.
- Experience:
- 2-5 years in electrical fitting, maintenance, or industrial installation.
- Experience with [relevant equipment, e.g., high-voltage systems, PLCs] is a plus.
- Licenses/Certifications:
- Valid electrical license
- Relevant safety certifications, such as CPR/LVR, Working at Heights, or Confined Space Entry, are advantageous.
Skills & Competencies:
- Technical Skills: Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams; strong understanding of electrical systems and components; skilled with tools and diagnostic equipment.
- Problem-Solving: Analytical skills to troubleshoot electrical issues and prevent equipment failures.
- Communication & Teamwork: Excellent verbal and written skills; ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Safety Awareness: Commitment to safety and risk assessment skills to ensure a secure work environment.
