HOBAN Recruitment is seeking an exceptional EL1 level Assistant Director Strategy to drive impactful projects and influence strategic policy decisions located in SURRY HILLS NSW.
About the Role:
As the EL1 level Assistant Director Strategy, you'll tackle complex challenges that hold strategic, political, and operational significance. You'll develop actionable insights, create high-level policy recommendations, and support the our client's mission to build a world-leading Scheme.
Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting structured analysis to inform strategic initiatives.
- Producing quantitative and qualitative models in Microsoft Excel.
- Preparing high-level briefings and communications for senior stakeholders, including Ministers and the Board.
- Leading discussions, presenting recommendations, and facilitating stakeholder alignment.
- Managing complex projects, driving change, and embedding policies across the organisation.
- Representing the organisation in negotiations and high-profile forums.

About You:
We are seeking a results-oriented professional with the following attributes:
- Demonstrated experience in strategic analysis and actionable insights development.
- Proficiency in quantitative and qualitative data analysis (e.g., Excel modelling).
- Strong policy development and implementation skills.
- Proven ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication, including policy papers and reports for senior leaders.
- Expertise in managing high-complexity projects and driving organisational change.
- Collaborative mindset with strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in presenting findings and influencing decision-making at senior levels.
Desirable:
- Familiarity with the Disability framework or similar public sector initiatives.
- Advanced Excel skills and strategic modelling capabilities.
- Relevant qualifications in public policy, business, or economics.
- Certification in project management methodologies (PRINCE2, Agile, etc.).
