EL1 Level Agency Policy Officer

HOBAN Recruitment is seeking an experienced Senior Policy Advisor (EL1 level) to lead the development of critical policies in a specialised area. This is an opportunity to influence policy at a strategic level while working on impactful projects with an agency-wide reach.
This role can be located in either Surry Hills NSW OR Deakin ACT.
About the Role
As a Senior Policy Advisor, you will:
- Lead policy development and interpretation, considering organisational and political sensitivities.
- Develop, manage, and deliver projects that impact the broader agency.
- Prepare and coordinate complex inputs for policy formulation.
- Plan and lead engagement activities with stakeholders.
- Develop complex policy documents for review and publication.
- Use data, evidence, and stakeholder engagement to ensure policy remains relevant and informed.
- Prepare and review reports, briefing papers, Ministerial correspondence, Cabinet submissions, and discussion papers.
- Model the APS and Client Values, contributing to a safe and high-performing culture.

About You:
To succeed in this role, you will have:
- Proven experience in developing and clearly communicating strategic policy advice.
- Strong analytical skills to interpret data and inform policy solutions.
- Experience working with people with lived experience and a wide range of stakeholders.
- Expertise in stakeholder relationship management and leading multidisciplinary policy groups.
- The ability to work autonomously and proactively manage workloads and resources.
- (Desirable) Experience in disability, social policy, and/or social insurance policy within government or the disability sector.
