HOBAN Recruitment is recruiting for the role of EL1 Level Assistant Director - Scheme Reform Communications on behalf of our client, located in Deakin Canberra.

About the Role
As the EL1 level Assistant Director - Scheme Reform Communications, you will play a critical leadership role within a high-profile federal agency. You will drive the development and delivery of strategic communication plans, helping key audiences understand the impact of Scheme reforms. This role will require a combination of strategic thinking, stakeholder management, campaign delivery, and team leadership to achieve impactful communication outcomes.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading the design and delivery of strategic communications plans and supporting materials.
- Ensuring timely, accessible, and inclusive communication across multiple channels.
- Monitoring incoming information and announcements, developing positioning strategies in response.
- Overseeing integrated marketing communications campaigns using data and insights.
- Driving continual improvement through data-led optimisation programs.
- Collaborating with internal teams to align on communication, advocacy, and reputation-building objectives.
- Managing a high-performing team, providing coaching, guidance, and performance management.
- Defining team roles, setting clear performance expectations, and conducting appraisals.

About You:
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- Demonstrated ability to develop clear and effective strategic communication strategies tailored for diverse audiences.
- Strong leadership and experience managing and coaching high-performing teams.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships across internal and external networks.
- Expertise in planning and managing data-driven communication campaigns.
- Exceptional writing skills, with the ability to develop plain English and accessible content that meets diverse audience needs.
- Proven project and resource management experience, with the ability to manage detailed or sensitive projects while adapting to changing requirements.
- Experience in driving continuous improvement and identifying opportunities to enhance communication strategies.
Desirable:
- Knowledge of the Disability sector and its impact on participants, providers, and the wider community.
- Experience working in the Australian Public Service or government sector.
- Skills in issues management and responding to reputational risks.
- Understanding of regulatory and legislative frameworks in a government environment.
