We are currently seeking a skilled Treatment Process Officer to join a major South Australian Government agency within the Operations & Maintenance division, supporting the Production & Treatment directorate. This role plays a critical part in ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient operation of wastewater, recycled water, and biosolids treatment processes across the state.
This is a hands-on technical role ideal for candidates with strong process knowledge, lab analysis experience, and the flexibility to travel regularly to regional and remote sites.
About the Role
The Treatment Process Officer will provide technical expertise, operational support, and process optimisation across multiple treatment facilities. The role contributes directly to maintaining service quality, ensuring regulatory compliance, and enabling safe, reliable treatment operations.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert technical advice to support communication, customer trust, and reliable service delivery.
- Ensure safety and wellbeing in alignment with WHS policies and procedures.
- Deliver technical support for wastewater, recycled water, and biosolids treatment processes.
- Assist in developing procedures, operating targets, and best-practice standards.
- Conduct laboratory analyses, collect data, and interpret results to maintain and improve plant performance.
- Optimise processes and equipment, and engage operators to drive continuous improvement.
- Troubleshoot operational issues and support root cause analyses (RCAs).
- Meet regulatory, licensing, and quality system requirements.
- Participate in performance reviews, team meetings, and contribute to training and development planning.
About You
To succeed in this role, you will bring:
- A strong background in chemical processes, laboratory testing, or treatment operations.
- Practical technical skills, high integrity, and a solutions-focused mindset.
- Flexibility and willingness to travel regularly, including daily or weekly visits to far north sites.
- A current driver's licence (mandatory).
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in science, engineering, or a related field (highly desirable).
Work Location & Travel
The position can be based at any metropolitan or regional office, however the successful candidate must be able to travel frequently to the following far north treatment plants:
- Marla
- Oodnadatta
- Marree
- Leigh Creek
- Hawker
A government vehicle will be provided for work-related travel.
